Planning
Here is where you can learn about how to plan a film.
The number one rule when planning a movie is there is no such thing as being over prepared. You want to make sure your production is ready for each day of filming and can tackle any possible problems.
For indie productions there are simple ways to stay prepared:
- Have a list. Anything you can plan out in list form, do it. Shot lists, gear lists, crew contact information, etc. Keep the information in a binder and always have backups.
- If you are the one preparing the gear then have a container specific to it. Put all your necessary equipment in one place for easy access. Also make sure a checklist is with the container so when the shooting is finished you can double check to make sure nothing is missing.
- If you know exactly what kind of gear you are using for a film, prepare it before hand. This is important for things like props. Keep it all in labelled containers so you can just pick it up and go when you have to go to the film location. This is much better then running around and looking for something that is missing when you have to film in ten minutes.
- Don't leave things to the last minute. Some problems are going to come up but make sure you are prepared for them.
